About

I am fascinated by patterns and behaviors. In my work I highlight this through the use of repetition and minimal change, aiming to increase our awareness of the environment. Currently I draw my inspiration from the world of exact sciences. With these ingredients I create inviting work where the audience feels part of the action and connects with one another.

As the daughter of a dancer and an engineer who played the drums, I developed a fascination for dance, music, patterns and systems at an early age. After completing my BA (Hons) in Dance Theatre at Trinity Laban I moved to New York City to study at the Laban/Bartenieff Institute for Movement Studies and the Merce Cunningham Studio.

Besides performing in different projects, I make work with a focus on science and technology since 2010. The springboard was teaching and researching at Eindhoven University of Technology which led to different works such a duet with a humanoid robot and an interactive light installation.

I always collaborate with other people such as scientists, composers and programmers. This included a longterm collaboration with fellow artists Marion Tränkle and Ivo Bol in the Amsterdam-based collective ‘NOW’. In 2019 I started the series ‘Lehmer’s Dance’ in collaboration with mathematician Tom Verhoeff.

My work has been supported by the Creative Industries Fund NL (Stimuleringsfonds), Amsterdam Fund for the Arts, Performing Arts Fund NL and others. It has been co-produced by festivals and organisations such as STRP festival, Discovery festival, the Dutch Mathematics Days and Platform Wiskunde Nederland.
